First Fridays at V. Sattui
I received the V. Sattui newsletter in the mail and was excited to read about all the events happening at the winery. The next one I could make it to was First Fridays at V. Sattui in the Cellar Club. If you are not a club member, and you live within reasonable distance of Napa, it is one of my favorites. I do venture out to many other wineries and tasting rooms as you’ll notice, but V.Sattui always has something that brings me back again. And if you are a member and you can make it out, the First Fridays Tastings are free for you!

VSattui Reisling Tasting Flight
The First Friday of each month, they’re doing a featured tasting. I went in April and was treated to the Riesling flight. They offered 5 of their Riesling.
Dancing Egg Riesling
2014 Dry Riesling
2014 Anderson Valley Riesling
2014 Off Dry Riesling
2012 Napa Late Harvest Riesling
My favorite was the 2014 Anderson Valley Riesling. It was sweet, but not too sweet. I rate it a “Buy“. I liked the 2014 Dry Riesling, as well, and for club members it’s 25% off if you buy a case, which works out to $18 a bottle. Great price and it tastes good, too. As for the rest, the 2014 Off Dry Riesling was fine. I found the Dancing Egg Riesling to be tart. The 2012 Napa Late Harvest Riesling had a little bit of a funk to it. It smelled like overripe fruit (which makes sense), but not in a good way.

GULP
It’s always a pleasure to taste in the Cellar Club. While 3 out of the 5 wines in the flight are usually available to taste, I enjoyed the opportunity to taste a couple I might not normally get to try. They’ve got some yummy sounding tastings coming up, so I guess you’ll know to find me on the First Fridays at V.Sattui every month!
